North Africa: Western Sahara and Regional Security.

Abstrakt: The article reports on the importance of regional security in North Africa because of the growing power of al-Qaeda in the region. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb was established by the alliance between al-Qaeda and the Algerian Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat. It is noted that the said group, which obtains funding from drug smuggling and kidnapping, is operating in isolated desert regions of southern Algeria, Morocco and other countries in the region.
