Abstrakt: In agriculture some biostimulators are used to improve root growth and due to this increase the crop. By our experience the root growth capacity might be an important factor in this development. Biostimulators (Kelpak®, Wuxal® Ascofol) containing seaweed extract, as stimulators of root growth may positively influence both root quality and shoot growth. Our poster reports on nursery trial carried out on Sorbus aucuparia seedlings and one-year-old 'Idared' apple trees using bioregulators. Biostimulators and Yeald Plus® fertilizer was sprayed onto the leaf surface in June 2007 at 10 days intervals, three times on Sorbus aucuparia seedlings. Two running meter long seedbed plots were treated, five times repeated, in randomized blocks. Treatments: Nr. 1. Untreated control; Nr. 2. Wuxal® Ascofol 0.2%; Nr. 3. Yeald Plus® 0.2%, Nr. 4. Kelpak® 0,2%. Results see in Table 1. Both Yeald Plus® fertilizer and Kelpak® positively influenced the growth of seedlings, height, caliper and root characteristics are significantly higher. The negative effect of Wuxal® Ascofol could be caused by a too high concentration or a extreme sensitivity of seedlings. In our second trial plant material was one-year-old nursery trees of 'Idared' apple on MM. 106 rootstock. Biostimulators and bioregulator (BA) was sprayed onto the leaf surface in June 2007 at 10 days intervals, three times. Ten trees were treated in one plot, five times repeated, in randomized blocks. Treatments: Nr. 1. Untreated control; Nr. 2. Kelpak ® 0,2%; Nr.3. Wuxal® Ascofol 0,2%; Nr. 4. BA 0,02%; Nr. 5. Kelpak® 0,2% + BA 0,02%; Nr. 6. Wuxal® Ascofol 0,2% + BA 0,02%. Before lifting the trees in October following data were measured: Tree height and trunk caliper at 30 cm height above budding, number of sylleptic shoots, length of sylleptic shoots. Root density was estimated by rating from 1-5. Biostimulator Kelpak® and the leaf fertilizer combined with biostimulator Wuxal® Ascofol applied alone did not affect the shoot growth, albeit Kelpak improved the root quality and branching. Both biostimulators applied in combination with BA increased the number of feathers and the length of feathers (secondary shoots). Based on our results highest number and length of secondary shoot could be achieved by combined application of BA and Kelpak. To improve the results further trials are needed to find optimal concentration and term of treatments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
