Popularly known as manscaping, male body hair removal has become an increasingly popular trend for heterosexual men. This paper addresses this practice, specifically examining the symbolic associations linking male body hair with nature. Manscaping, as I argue, represents an effort to establish a boundary between an ecologically distinct civilized natural body and an uncontrolled uncivilized natural body. I conclude by speculating about the practice of manscaping and its relationship to the ecological crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
