Abstrakt: An analysis of 1980 census data on the earnings of young adult immigrants with military experience (immigrant veterans) and those without (immigrant non-veterans) provides support for predictions from human capital theory gains for military participants. Immigrant veterans have greater logged earnings than non-veteran immigrants after controlling for race/ethnicity, age, education, citizenship, era of military service, period of arrival in the U.S. and other factors. Logged earnings of minority immigrant veterans and white immigrant veterans do not differ significantly, while the logged earnings of minority and white immigrants do. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
