Abstrakt: Concern with bioterrorism and biosecurity for food, feed, and agriculture has greatly increased since 9/11/2001. All segments of the cotton industry are potentially affected. The regulations and directives issued so far are most likely only the beginning of a process that will continue to have more detailed requirements. How the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, the USDA Security Plan for CCC Storage Agreement Compliance, the Department of Homeland Security communication efforts, and potential chemical legislation affect cotton industry sectors are reviewed.
