The article discusses the housing policies that affected the living condition of young people in Great Britain. Based on the laissez-faire economic approach, the children have been perceived as an economic asset for a family for they have the responsibility of taking care of their parents even after marriage prior to World War I. During the second half of the 19th century, the policies were considered harsh for the tax payers which have caused the inefficiency of the slum clearance and temporary accommodation acts. Even with the Housing and Town Planning Act of 1919, young people were not really taken account for the policy. |
