The article details the Nanjing Project, which composed of the 1983-1984 training known as Nanjing I and the 1985-1986 training known as Nanjing II. Carillo Gantner, Australian attache to China, was responsible for negotiating the Nanjing Project with the Australian and Chinese governments and from November 1983 to February 1984, the Nanjing I took place in Albury Wodonga. The author says that the Nanjing Project was a major factor in the revival of Chinese interest in circus skills and was fundamental to the development of new circus in Australia. |
