Abstrakt:	The article analyzes the subject matter and themes in the painting "The Human Races" by Fernand Cormon. The author discusses the racial dichotomy and the juxtapositioning of Semitic people with Aryan people in the painting. The author suggests that the racial beliefs common to the French Third Republic are embodied in the work. Other topics include scientific accuracy, allegorical representation, and critical response to the painting.
