Abstrakt: The article discusses the importance of market research in ticket pricing strategies. The challenges faced by professional sports clubs and major events are presented in relation to capacity constraints and lapsed attendance. The benefits of market research are discussed along with the different sources of information. Pitfalls in the conduct of market research are provided with emphasis on emotional attachment between sports fans and their favourite club or event.
