| Abstrakt: | The author comments on an article by Richard Shearmur which addressed how do urban/metropolitan regions support themselves while competing with one another. He agrees with Shearmur's observation that there is no adequate theory of urban competition, and argues that in the absence of a sound theory, assertions by politicians, chambers of commerce, editorial writers, and publicists carry the day, with the result that a vast array of urban policy decisions. |
