The author believes that there is an oversight on the part of the founders of the U.S. in their ability to foresee mass media, nor did they imagine that the distain they held for democracy will be forgotten by U.S. citizens. He calls the presidential election on November 4, 2008 as something that was not based on any real knowledge of a candidate's position or accomplishments, but based entirely on a cult of personality. He speculates that if the founders had known how presidents would be elected at present, they would have made stricter laws. |
