Abstrakt: | The article focuses on the River Dee Ferry disaster which occurred April 5, 1876 in Scotland. The ferry operated between Aberdeen and Torry and was loaded with 76 passengers in a vessel designed for 30. The spring melt had swollen the river, which, combined with overcrowding, caused the boat to flip and 32 people died. The article details some of the heroic episodes recounted by observers, passengers, and rescuers. |
