| Abstrakt: | The author discusses the Tuyilunarttu Pattu which is probably the first wake-up song in India. It is the author's view that Tuyilunarttu Pattu are songs used to wake up the deity. He states that occasions can be seen in the Puranas, where not only men but gods are also woken up from sleep. It is inferred that the tradition of Tuyilunarttu Pattu is maintained only in the month of Karkkitakam. |
