Abstrakt: The article focuses on some female artists in Czechoslovakia and the condition of the profession in the country. It notes that the pressure of communism in the country and the insecurity and anti-climax that have followed the euphoria of the Velvet Revolution have made Czechoslovak women more likely to stay at home and take care of children. According to artist Jitka Svobodová, women artist in the country is not as good as men because of the lack of opportunities and the demand of family life. Some feminists, such as Sasa Berková and Eva Hauserova, express their opinion on the pitfalls facing women who start their families before establishing a career in art.
