Abstrakt: The article presents a study which aims to evaluate the scope and significance of public speaking skills instruction in U.S. colleges and universities. In this study, a five-page, 37-item questionnaire was sent to an appropriate faculty member or administrator at each of the 70 accredited institutions of higher education in Florida with a student head count of 450 or more. The study found that of the 32 institutions that responded to the survey, only three did not offer a course in public speaking. About 8% of all community college students and 4% of all four-year college students in Florida take a course in public speaking during any given year.
