This article focuses on a shift in programming and the idea that it represents more than the thinking of a pragmatic businessman in charge of a large corporation. It represents the desire of Pat Robertson, president of CBN, to make CBN a fourth network---credible and respectable in the eyes of the general public. It describes the content of the programming as a mixture of religious ideology, political and social philosophy, and celebrity appeal. It also reveals major changes that have been made in the television program "The 700 Club" since 1979. |
