Abstrakt: The article describes four observation report assignments used for a nonverbal communication course to demonstrate that observation reports can be helpful in teaching communication theories and concepts. Students are given approximately one week to conduct the observation and submit a one or two page report. The assignments include offering a description of an interpersonal communication situation in which approach-avoidance behavior can be observed, and providing a description of an interpersonal communication situation in which a person's superior power or status was demonstrated through one or more of the power behaviors. It relates that the observation report approach resulted to a classroom filled with students who are prepared to contribute to discussion.
