The article focuses on landscape architect Daniel Urban Kiley. On May 15, 1993, Kiley received an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Green Mountain College in Vermont, his only college degree. Instead of pursuing higher education, Kiley chose to work for nothing for Warren H. Manning, a famous planner and landscape architect in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1940, Louis Kahn invited him to work on a couple of Kahn's Defense Housing projects. Since then, architects have been seeking out Kiley and his work has expanded to architecture and planning. |
