Abstrakt: | An essay about the changes experienced by the maritime industry during the 17th century in New England is presented. It relates that the region's fishery and forest resources, particularly in John Brereton and Captain John Smith, drove its earliest settlement, but its coastal sea is not the uniform environment imagined by early Europeans. |
