The article discusses the major findings of the federally funded Emergency Room (ER) One project, a research initiative that has described a number of facility strategies, which should be regarded in planning new emergency facilities. It notes that the ability to adapt and utilize emergency facilities is a critical element in responding to surges which result from man-made and natural events. It also analyzes a case study at the Tampa General Hospital emergency service in Florida. |
