This article presents a detailed description and analysis of the frescoes by Paolo Farinati in the Palazzo Giuliari in Verona, Italy. The frescoes are friezes running around the upper walls of three rooms on the primo piano. The rooms are designated as the Sala degli Dei, Sala di Persefone and Sala dell'Allegoria. Sala degli Dei portrays the loves of the gods, the second room tells the story of Persephone and the final room portrays female allegorical figures. The article also details the earliest mention of the frecoes and the attempts made to unearth information on the origin and commission of the frescoes in contemporary documents. |
