The article discusses the first publication of a manuscript discovered by the Egypt Exploration Society at Qasr Ibrim, Egypt. The manuscript contains two parchment leaves which were believed to be part of a parchment codex. It relates that the manuscript contains fragments of a homily which has been published in its entirety by Guy Lafontaine. However, the fragments are also contained in a manuscript belonging to the Pierpont Morgan Library, where it is falsely attributed to Gregory of Nazianzus, the Theologian. A comparison of the Qasr Ibrim text and Morgan text is also discussed. An English translation of the Qasr Ibrim text is also presented. |
