Chapter 4 of the book "Handbook of Clay Science" is presented. It describes the prominent points of the synthetic clay minerals and the methods of clay purification. It stresses out the influence of carbonates, oxides and organic materials to the colloidal and rheological properties of clay pastes, slips, and dispersions. It highlights the changes in the clay mineral structure in effect from the chemical reactions involved in clay mineral purification. |
