Abstrakt: Chapter 3 of the book "Architect's Legal Handbook" is presented. It discusses the law of tort in England of interest to architects. It notes that the law of tort is concerned with conduct which causes damage to the personal, proprietary or financial interests of a party. It cites that law of tort offers a system of loss distribution and regulates behaviour within society. The three essential elements of the tort of negligence are the existence of a legal duty of care, a breach of that duty and consequential damage.
