Abstrakt: The article features the Desert Botanical Garden and the Native Foods Garden of the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. Heard Museum's garden has tepary beans, amaranth, Gila River sweet corn, Hopi purple string beans, pico de gallo chiles, black-eyed peas, devil's claw, and melons and gourds. The garden also features the ramada, an open-air shade structure constructed by Danny Lopez. The Desert Botanical Garden's "Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert" exhibit showcases the uses of Sonoran Desert plants for food, fiber, medicine, construction, and other purposes.
