Abstrakt: This article discusses the impact of Swedish school, the Sloyd Training School, located in Naas, Sweden, on the development of progressive education in the U.S. The School, also known as the Seminarium for Teachers, fostered educational reform during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This was accomplished by teaching thousands of teachers from Sweden, as well as from other countries in methods to promote active learning adapted to every individual child's needs and interests. Graduates of this school achieved influence in the nation by advancing these principles. One of these graduates was Flora White of Massachusetts. White's educational experience at the school shaped her development as a progressive school administrator.
