This article discusses the activities of the Friends of Modern Art, an auxiliary committee of the Detroit Institute of Arts in Michigan, in 1986. The lecture series held by the committee presented a roster of speakers including Holly Solomon of the Holly Solomon Gallery, Italian collector Count Giuseppe Panza di Biumo and architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. The Special Events committee planned a picnic on the lawn to welcome Samuel Sachs II and to mark the close of the exhibition "Automobile and Culture--Detroit Style." |
