Abstrakt: The results of time dependent small angle neutron scattering (SANS) experiments on the alignment of four samples are described. The relaxation times encountered vary in magnitude from 150 ms to 60 min. For the shorter relaxation times a sampling method was used. The four different processes of which results are reported are:-the transient alignment of p-TES fibrilles in an electric field-the rotation of a prealigned nematic phase in a magnetic field-the build up and decay of a shear induced micellar structure in a shear field-the overshoot during the alignment of rodlike micelles in a shear field.
