The article discusses the women's woodcarving movement during the late 19th century and early 20th century in Cincinnati, Ohio. The article focuses specifically on three architectural woodcarvers, and their influences on the woodcarving movement including: Henry Lindley Fry; his son William Henry Fry; and Benn Pitman. The article also discusses the addition of a Wood Carving Department to the School of Design of the University of Cincinnati, and includes a quotation from the "1872 Course of Instruction, Rules &c." catalogue. |
