The article focuses on Austrian architect Hubert Gessner, who stood between tradition and progress and between Hapsburg order and social democracy. His designs were influenced by renowned Austrian architect Otto Wagner as evidenced by the civilian character of his finished works. He worked for several years as a draughtsman and construction supervisor before entering the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in October 1894. The types of architectural commissions which displayed his achievements include the workers' apartment complex. |
