Abstrakt:	The article discusses the success of scientific papers from colleges and universities in Great Britain. It is stated that the research performance of universities is linked to the future economic and social prosperity of the country given the list of priorities for political attention and public investment. As a matter of fact, the success of higher education institutions (HEI) research in the country is underpinned by the dual support system which provides public funds to institutions in two streams.
