A biography of Dr. Bertram H. Schaffner, a psychoanalyst and Indian Art aficionado, is presented. He spent his childhood in Erie, Pennsylvania and received a medical degree from John Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland. He began to take an active interest in Indian art after visiting India in 1967 on a tour sponsored by the Brooklyn Museum of Art. His role as a contributor to the Indian collection of the Asian Art Department of the Brooklyn Museum of Art is explored. |
