The article examines the stories of Los Angeles, California depicted in "In a Matter of Days," and "Understanding Joshua," two series of stills from non-existent films from Charlie White. "In a Matter of Days," relates an outbreak of monster attacks all over the city of Los Angeles while "Understanding Joshua," features an alien as a protagonist. White claims that "In a Matter of Days," was inspired by the spatial emptiness and social isolation of Los Angeles. It explores the themes of sexual anxiety and auto-amputation of the self into autonomous fragments in "Understanding Joshua." |
