The article describes the Weltzheimer/Johnson House in Oberlin, Ohio under the care of art historian Ellen H. Johnson. The refined taste of the art historian has covered the flaws created by the two former owners of the house. Her restoration of the house complemented the harmony and serenity of Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture, the house's original architect. She installed draperies in the living room and in the three main bedrooms for the purpose of privacy, temperature and light control. To further incorporate Wright's tastes into the house, she studied his preference in fabrics and decoration, as well as the furnishings of his other houses. Johnson also opened her home to visitors including architects. |
