The article provides information on the history of musical accompaniment for silent films. It has been witnessed during the first quarter of the 20th century that the artistic and technical development of the silent film with accompanying orchestral music. Moreover, the challenge of reproducing silent film presentations with orchestral music was undertaken by John B. Kuiper, director of film collections at George Eastman House, in cooperation with the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in New York. |
