Abstrakt: The article profiles the bone carvers of Arviat, Nunavut, the Nibgoarsi brothers, Thomas, David, and Chesley. The brothers are known for carving ion caribou antler and whale bone. However, due to the increasing popularity of carvings in antler, the material is becoming scarce. Thomas, the eldest of the three brothers, still prefer bone as his medium despite the community's importation of more manageable carvingstone from other communities. Another setback for bone artists is the reluctance of local art buyers to purchase more works. Since then, the brothers have resorted to selling their works door-to-door. The brothers have joined their forces in thinking of new ways of selling their work and gathering materials.
