Abstrakt: The article profiles Inuit artist Arnaqu Ashevak. He was born in Cape Dorset, Nunavut in 1956. Despite straying from the medium used by his parents, it is said that Ashevak has become famous for his work in stone. Based on the article, the stones carved by Ashevak were high structured, and that one of the reasons why his works attracted attention is because he uses unconventional materials like Brazilian soapstone and jade. The 1984 exhibition "Sculpture From Cape Dorset - The New Generation," which was presented in Toronto, Ontario, featured some of Ashevak's carving.
