Abstrakt: The article examines whether the low-cost car Tata Nano from Tata Motors would result to a dramatic increase in car population in Africa. In doing so, the author first discusses the economic viability and fuel efficiency of the automobile, then analyzes the government's capability to create sufficient new roads to accommodate more cars. The author also explores Africans' financial sufficiency to buy a new car and finance its fuel consumption and maintenance. Drawing from the financial ability of the government and Africans, the author concludes that Tata Nano and its ilk do not pose a threat of automotive over population in the region.
