The article discusses the work of ceramic artist Richard Milette, describing Milette's artwork as ironic in the way it dissects 20th century art clichés. Highlights of his career are discussed, including his graduating show from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia and his 1998 show entitled “Museum Quality Pieces.†The author discusses the difficulty of classifying Milette as an artist, it is suggested that classifying Milette as “postmodern†is too limiting, and compares him to the painter Marcel Duchamp as well as to the ceramist George Ohr. |
