The article discusses the significance of textiles in the expression of social and political values and as a means of continuing a feminist tradition. It highlights how textiles are used by the American and British feminist movements of the 19th and 20th century to expose political beliefs and to promote group solidarity. It examines the use of textile medium by artists to comment on women's roles in society and in the history of art. It also relates the author's perception on environmental issues as an important concern in art work. |
