The article focuses on the establishment of Stem Cell Oversight Committee (SCOC) and the creation of the Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Research Guidelines by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). It seeks to demonstrate that the idea behind the development of the guidelines is to protect the rights, health, and safety of those who donate embryos for human pluripotent stem cell research. It also presents the provisions of the CIHR guidelines for the oversight of the stem cell research. |
