This article focuses on the emerging British heritage films. British heritage films emphasize the aristocratic worldview and focus on narratives of privilege. Heritage films provide an opportunity to make a historical analysis on the notion of what constitute a heritage. This analysis may give light to the relationships among gender, class and nation. Critic Thomas Elsaesser explained that what nations sell as national cinema are actually their history. The present British heritage films focuses on spiv cycle which are reworks of 1940s spiv cycle. |
