The article examines the portrayal of cowboys in the film "The Bridges of Madison County," directed and co-starred by Clint Eastwood. The authors summarize the plot of the film and describe Eastwood's portrayal of a cowboy. They claim that the film morphed the 19th century Western hero and heroine into romantic, sentimental and tragic late 20th century figures. They also discuss the film's description of its main character played by Eastwood, as well as the film's connotations of cowboy. |
