The study was designed to determine the relationship between levels of stress and satisfaction the nurse educators derive from their job, Three research questions and a null hypothesis were used for the study. Correlational survey design was utilized while the data were collected through the use of questionnaire. Sampling procedure used for drawing the sample subjects was the convenience sampling. Sample size was 232. Statistical method used for data analysis was Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient to determine the direction and magnitude of correlation between job stress and job satisfaction. Findings showed a moderate positive relationship (of 0.52) between job stress and satisfaction, Nurse educators generally experience mild to moderate degrees of stress in their job. There is a perfect positive relationship (of 1.00) between job stress and job satisfaction as influenced by educational qualification. The higher the qualification, the higher the job stress and job satisfaction levels in the various categories of nurse educators, academically. In view of the above, it was recommended that nurse educators should endeavour to attain a higher level of education for higher job satisfaction and productivity. Employers and government should support nurse educators through provision of adequate teaching facilities, proper remuneration, and promotion opportunities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
