Abstrakt: The article presents a developed understanding of drilling with foam or other two-phase low density fluids. It is mentioned that there is a growing consumption of drilling foams due to their properties which are necessary in many drilling operations. An experimental study of cuttings transport with foam in a horizontal annulus under simulated downhole conditions is therefore provided. Details on the experiments are mentioned including the identification of the effects of polymer additives, foam quality, flow velocity, temperature, and pressure on foam cuttings transport. The study is also aimed at improving the design of foam drilling and cleanup operations. A brief review of related literature is also included along with the processes and discussion of the results of such experiment.
