Abstrakt: | The article discusses the effects of musicianship in the 1995 film adaptation of the "Sense and Sensibility," by Jane Austen. Directed by Ang Lee with an Oscar-winning screenplay by actress Emma Thompson, the film cast Alan Rickman as the man destined to marry Marianne and revised the Colonel's character. In Austen's novels, especially in "Sense and Sensibility" and "Emma," male musicians rank among the least desirable husbands, and the piano figures as a means of deception. |
