INDIAN HORSES AND HORSEMEN.

Abstrakt: The article focuses on Indian horsemen and horses which were frequently seen in Indian art, folklore and religious iconography. It discusses Hindu deities, such as Indra and Surya, which were drawn mounting and riding a horse. Paintings of horsemen are sometimes seen painted on the walls of houses and carved along roadsides and villages. Wooden horsemen represent tribal art and were placed on ritual altars. According to the author, the image of a horse symbolizes power and courage that is why it became a fashion among the 18th and 19th century maharajas.
