The article highlights the international conference entitled "Origin and Evolution of Biota in Mediterranean Climate Zones: An Integrative Vision" that was held on July 14 to 16, 2007 in Zurich, Switzerland is presented. Its aim was to improve the understanding of the evolutionary processes that shaped the exceptional species diversity of the Mediterranean climate zones. While the main focus was on the Mediterranean basin added a valuable comparative layer to the discussion. |
