The article reports on a luncheon that was held at the WEFTEC.07 conference that recapped new waste discharge requirements set in place by the California State Water Resources Control Board. At the luncheon attendees heard from Nicholas Pinhey, public works director for the City of Modesto, California. Pinhey asserted that the lack of funding combined with an aging infrastructure and growing population led California to take a closer look at its collection systems management. The article explains that California's program requires all agencies within the state with sanitary sewer systems or greater in length to comply with requirements under the statewide Sewer System Management Plan. |
