The article explains the estate planning issues facing parents of children with special needs and how to address them. It suggests advance planning to reduce the stress of the non-disabled parent and enable a re-allocation of financial resources as planned by the parent with disabilities. One of the rights of a short-term guardian is to act with a court appointment. It cites the need for an agent to be authorized to create and fund a special needs trust for the benefit of the child. |
